Utah’s diverse landscape makes it a popular spot for day hikers and hearty backpackers. With its cornucopia of very remote areas and strikingly beautiful scenes, a Utah hiking trip can be anywhere from a mere “pleasant walk” to a nature-friendly outdoors adventure. Through a Utah backpacking trip, you’ll find that when you get off the beaten path on foot or even on horseback, the state’s mountains and deserts will “open up” for you in many unexpected ways.

The state boasts of five famous Utah hiking regions, namely Wasatch Front, Northern Mountains, Dinosaurland, Great Basin, as well as Red Rock. In addition, the section of the Great Western Trail that provides Utah hiking also offers magnificent opportunities for snowmobiling, ATVing, and other fun activities.

Wasatch Front

This is where Utah’s inner-city corridor lies. To the east is the stunning Wasatch Mountain range and to the west is the desert terrain of the Great Basin. Utah hiking and backpacking moments of every variety are found just moments away from any of the cities in this area. Some of the amazing Utah climbing trails within a short distance from the Wasatch Front area include:

· Alexander Basin Trail

· Desolation Trail

· Great Western Trail

· Lake Blanche Trail

· Lake Mary Trail

· Mill B. North Fork Trail

· Mineral Fork Trail

· Mount Olympus Trail

· Timpanogos Cave Trail

· White Pine Trail

Utah backpacking along Mount Olympus Trail will have you starting right at the foot of Mount Olympus down Wasatch Boulevard. The Utah climbing that this trail offers is a strenuous one, but exciting, offering you amazing views of the Salt Lake Valley.

Another excellent Utah climbing opportunity offered in this region is the Ogden River Parkway, which is a striking 3.3 mile area for walking, biking, picnicking, and fishing. The parkway is suitably located adjacent to the Ogden River, right in the metropolis of Ogden.

Northern Mountains

Next to the Wasatch Front, another great Utah backpacking region is the Northern Mountains. It offers a lot of Utah hiking trails, including Deep Canyon – Coldwater Canyon Trail, Naomi Peak Trail, and part of the Great Western Trail.

In addition to that, Utah hiking opportunities are also offered outside Logan in northern Utah. One example is a pleasant Utah climbing, that is more like walking, in the one-mile Limber Pine Trail loop at the peak of Logan Canyon looking over Bear Lake. Another is an autumn ¾-mile Utah climbing to Coldwater Lake near Mendon. This Utah climbing track often lures hikers further up the track through the ruby maples and golden aspen in to the dense forests of the Wellsville Wilderness.

The Skyline Trailhead right on top of the North Ogden Pass, 5 miles east of North Ogden, offers a number of Utah climbing. You can obtain a Utah climbing trail up a 9-mile trek to the 9,712-foot summit of Ben Lomon Peak. There is also the Pineview Trailhead leads to a 22-mile Utah backpacking trail ending in Willard Basin. A number of more Utah climbing trails are spread through the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Davis Country.

The Wyoming Wilderness

The Wyoming wilderness is a great place to spend time hiking. The following Wyoming sites supply information about Sheridan Wyoming hotels, Buffalo Wyoming, and Jackson Wyoming.
