The Animal Returns To WWE With A Roar
September 14 RAW: Batista made his return on September 14 at Raw after a 3 month break from WWE due to an arm injury caused by Randy Orton and The Legacy. At Raw, Batista appeared with a plastic cast on his left arm and in his address to his fans he announced that he would be leaving the show. However, his speech was cut short when Orton entered the ring and started talking trash about Batista. But The Animal had other things on his mind. He removed the plastic cast from his arm and clotheslined Orton before body slamming him onto the mat and throwing The Viper out of the ring. He then announced that he would be leaving Raw and moving to Smack Down but before that he would be facing his ex-evolution mate Orton in a “No Holds Barred” match that night. The animal completely dominated the “No Holds Barred” match by decimating Orton until The Viper slithered out of the ring trying to make an escape. But Orton’s escape was stopped by the WWE Champion John Cena. Cena barred his escape route and pushed The Viper back into the ring towards an enraged animal. The animal avenged his arm injury by delivering a spinebuster and a Batista Bomb thereby winning the match.
September 18 Smack Down: That week on Friday Night Smack Down Batista was interrupted by Chris Jericho in the middle of his speech and as usual Jericho started bragging about himself. Batista got fed up of this and challenged Jericho to a match that night before spine-bustering him on to the mat. At the main event of Smack Down, Batista took initial control over Jericho with his incredible strength but an opportunistic Jericho clawed back into the match at the middle. Meanwhile Jericho’s tag team partner The Bigshow was taking a close look at the battle. After a series of counters and kickouts Batista countered Jericho’s code breaker and turned it into an earth shaking Batista Bomb and picked up victory. After Batista’s hard fought victory he was issued a challenge by World’s Largest Athlete The Bigshow for a match next week on Smack Down.
September 25 Smack Down: Next week on Friday Night Smack Down Batista faced the other half of the Unified Tag Team Champion The Bigshow with Chris Jericho in his corner. This was one of the rarest occasions when Batista had to face an opponent much stronger than himself. With speed and agility in his favour The Animal somehow managed to apply the ankle lock to the 480 pound giant. This made Chris Jericho, who was lurking around the ring, intervene the match who ultimately fell victim to a vicious spinebuster and a subsequent ankle lock from Batista. This interference made matters worse as The Bigshow lost the match by disqualification due to his partner’s interference. That night after his victory to The Bigshow, Batista also announced that he would be taking on the Unified Tag Team Champions Chris Jericho and The Bigshow at the next pay-per-view “Hell in a Cell” with the Master of 619 Rey Mysterio as his partner.
